M+R Spedag Group AG commissions Dreier AG to carry out national shipments as of 1st July 2024

M+R Spedag Group AG is relying on a new concept for national distribution from the Kaiseraugst transshipment terminal. As of 1st July 2024, Dreier AG will be commissioned to carry out national shipments in the area of general cargo and container traffic, i.e., the delivery of incoming general cargo shipments/containers to Swiss end recipients, as well as the pre-carriage of export shipments from Switzerland to the loading terminal at the Basel location.

Like M+R Spedag Group AG, Dreier AG is also a family business with many years of tradition. The two companies have been collaborating in various areas for many years. Dreier has a broad fleet of vehicles at its disposal and supplies the Swiss domestic market in even the most remote regions. Strong focus is placed here on combined transport, including rail and road. From the Härkingen hub, swap bodies travel by train overnight to hubs in Eastern and Western Switzerland, as well as to Ticino. There, trucks, in turn, take over and execute the shipment on the so-called last mile.

Decarbonisation is one of the very major and urgent challenges facing the transport industry. HP Dreier, CEO of the 3rd generation of Dreier AG, emphasises that his company is clearly committed to electrification in road transport and is investing heavily in its own e-vehicles and charging parks. Today, the company already has 14 vehicles that refuel with electricity, and, by 2026, the number of vehicles with an electric drive will increase to 65 trucks.

For Boris Lukic, CEO of the M+R Spedag Group, this step is an important milestone, in order to thereby adapt the services to meet the needs of the customers of tomorrow.
