New Group CEO

Daniel Richner retires from his active role as CEO and nominates Boris Lukic as his successor.

At the first East Asia meeting since the Covid crisis, Boris Lukic was presented as the new CEO of the worldwide M+R Spedag Group with immediate effect.

After 21 years of operational responsibility, the company owner, Daniel Richner, is retiring to the chairmanship of the board of directors and will focus on strategic issues in the future.

Boris Lukic joined the company as an apprentice in 1997 and – except for a short engagement with a large corporation – continued to work his way up the career ladder at M+R Spedag Group. During this time, he also earned a master’s degree in international logistics management, which equipped him with the skills he needs to meet the demands of his challenging job. According to Daniel Richner, “Boris is a doer who can convince customers and motivate employees with great dynamism, and incredible expertise”. After the sale of the East Africa organization, which he successfully managed in recent years, the way was cleared for Boris Lukic to lead the East Asia organization, which comprises 1400 employees and over 50 locations.

Dominik Richner is the new Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors. He has taken on the task of leading the company into the digitalized age. As a young entrepreneur, he and his business partner have developed customs clearance software that uses artificial intelligence to automate the customs clearance process and make it more efficient. “Our solution, WeDeclare, can do a large part of the customs clearance independently. A success we could hardly have hoped for ourselves after only two years,” says Dominik Richner, describing the group’s latest product.

Boris Lukic is convinced that “the only sustainable strategy for a successful logistics group is to drive digital development across the board without neglecting the aspect of the physical movement of goods”. The interaction of all stakeholders along the entire supply chain is crucial; transparency and rapid intervention will make the difference. M+R Spedag is optimally positioned for this, with Boris Lukic and Dominik Richner at the levers of the company.
