Kazakhstan is the world’s ninth-largest country by land area and the largest landlocked country, with a territory of around 2.7 million km² – more than seven times the size of Germany. The country recorded real GDP growth of 6.5 % in 2025, while transport and warehousing sectors expanded by an impressive 19.4 %. Rail and road freight play a key role in Kazakhstan’s domestic, cross-border and transit logistics. Growing domestic demand, expanding trade flows with China and other Asian markets, and its strategic position on the multimodal Trans-Caspian Route, connecting China and South-East Asia via Kazakhstan and the Caspian Region with Azerbaijan, Türkiye and Europe, make Kazakhstan increasingly important to our customers and partners – and to M+R Spedag Group.

The two new locations connect our network to virtually all the Kazakh market. Almaty places us in Kazakhstan’s main commercial and logistics center, while Astana is the country’s institutional center and links us with the industrial heartland and project hubs.

Our perspective goes beyond bilateral trade flow alone. Kazakhstan is increasingly connected with the surrounding markets of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, while the Trans-Caspian Route i.e. Middle Corridor continues to gain importance as a trade corridor between Asia and Europe.

The local presence in Kazakhstan is an important step for M+R Spedag. It enables us to develop the market directly, stay close to customers and partners, and connect opportunities in Kazakhstan with the capabilities of our worldwide M+R Spedag Group network.
