Switzerland > Textiles >
Customs clearance of textiles is very complex. There is hardly any other product group which has so many sub-groups in the customs tariffs, nowhere else are such fine differences included in the classification. This therefore places high demands on the expertise of the people who must clear the goods through customs.
Because of its leading position in the Swiss textile logistics sector, M+R Spedag has a large customs department with several specialists who deal exclusively with the customs clearance of textiles and garments.
Swiss customs authorities have awarded M+R Logisitik Service AG Gunzgen the status of an “authorised consignee” and “authorised consignor”. This entitles the company to receive goods in its terminal in Gunzgen which have not yet been cleared through customs. The effective customs clearance is then carried out by remote data transmission. This provides a high degree of efficiency and allows the incoming textiles to be moved into the sorting plant immediately after they have been unloaded from the container or truck, without any delays because of a lack of customs clearance.
