New office in China
M+R China opens office in Chongqing, Sichuan Province
Effective August 1, 2007, M+R China has opened a new office in Chongqing, Western China.
Chongqing, located in Sichuan province, is one of China's four biggest cities, with a population of appr. 38 Mio. (greater Chongqing area).
Chongqing is one of the most important ports along the Yangtze river and is the only river port in the whole of western China which allows for a direct connection to any major seaport along China's eastern seaboard.
During the past three years Chonqging's import/export volume has seen a year on year increase of more than 20%. Chongqing's total throughput in terms of TEU totaled 260'000 in 2006 and is expected to surpass 350'000 during 2007. Its new Cuntan Terminal has been designed to allow for a total capacity of 700'000/year.
With the new office in Chongqing, M+R Spedag Group is represented in China with own offices in Shanghai, Beijing, Chongqing, Dalian, Guangzhou, Lianyungang, Nanjing, Ningbo, Qingdao, Shenzhen, Suzhou, Tianjin, Xiamen.
M+R Spedag Group operates a total of 24 offices throughout Asia, with a combined workforce of over 500 employees. The regional headoffice for Asia Pacific is located in Hong Kong.
